Iguazú Argentina signed an agreement with Intacto Welty for the Management of Used Cooking Oils
25 de November 2024 • Por

Intacto Welty and Iguazú Argentina have signed a highly significant agreement related to environmental care, aimed at establishing actions for the responsible management of used cooking oil. Proper handling of this waste prevents soil and water contamination and protects the drinking water system.

Intacto Welty is part of the Missionary Network for the Collection and Valorization of Used Oils, and with this agreement, they will begin collecting the used oil from the kitchens in the Cataratas Area, to recycle it and transform it into new resources, such as soaps and detergents.

The meeting was attended by the president of Intacto Welty, Hugo Saldivia, and from Iguazú Argentina, Carol Da Rosa, General Manager, Daniela Villalba, Operations Manager, and Sofía Lindner from the Environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility area.

Solidarity initiative and training

The agreement also includes a solidarity initiative: for every 1000 liters of used cooking oil collected, Intacto Welty will donate 10 kilograms of cleaning products to the San Ramón Nursing Home and the Marta Schwarz Public Daycare.

Additionally, as part of the comprehensive management, there will be training for the Iguazú Argentina staff to ensure the proper circuit of used oils, raise awareness, and promote environmental consciousness, so that the commitment to the natural environment is not only lived within the company but also extends to the homes of each individual in the Cataratas Area.

Oil forms a layer on the water's surface that prevents oxygenation and alters natural processes. Therefore, it is essential to address this environmental issue urgently, as one liter of used oil contaminates 1000 liters of water, affecting its quality, aquatic ecosystems, drinking water systems, and human health.
